ESN USB Budweis at the University of South Bohemia

The meeting of the ESN USB Budweis President and the Rector of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice.

There are many student clubs and organizations at the University of South Bohemia. One of them is the ESN USB Budweis as a part of the Erasmus Student Network (ESN). ESN is a non-profit international organization whose members are voluntarily helping the incoming students with several problems that may come up with their arrival and during their stay in the Czech Republic. One of the main aims of ESN is to show the Erasmus students the Czech culture and traditions via many different activities, cultural events and other projects. It also supports intercultural understanding not only among students but also among the general public.

There are about 200 incoming Erasmus+ students each year at the University of South Bohemia. Nowadays, there are 13 active members who take care not only of the incoming students but also of the internal operation of the club. Currently, the ESN USB Budweis has 45 Czech students, called „buddies “, who are taking care of the Erasmus students. Apart from that, the active members are also responsible for the internal operation of the club.

On Tuesday, November 3, 2020, Michal Černý, the President of the ESN USB Budweis, met with the Rector of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice, prof. PhDr. Bohumil Jiroušek, Dr., and the Vice-rector for international relations doc. PaedDr. Radka Závodská, Ph.D. The main topic of the session was the impact of government measures in the context of the current pandemic and how the club deals with it.

At the end, the Rector of the USB wished the club and its members much success in further representing and building on the good reputation, not only of ESN but also of the University of South Bohemia.
