    Newly bred carp is resistant to diseases and leads to sale

    Scientists from the Faculty of Fisheries and Protection of Waters of the University of South Bohemia in České Budejovice have bred a new breed of carp, in cooperation with the South Moravian fish farm Pohořelice. They called him Amur mirror carp after one of the parents who comes from east Russian river called Amur, which flows through Vladivostok.

    On Tuesday, April 5, 2016, the President Miloš Zeman appointed Assoc. Prof. Tomáš Machula, Ph.D., Th.D. the rector of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice on the basis of the University of South Bohemia Academic Senate proposal. The ceremony of handing over the letter of appointment took place at the Prague Castle. Associate Professor Tomáš Machula was appointed the rector of the University of South Bohemia for the period 2016-2020.

    Changes of traffic signs in the campus

    From 1.4. 2016, the back part of the USB campus (the space between the street Na Sádkách, BC AV CR, University halls of residence and K. Fleischmann street) will be equipped with road signs that change the traffic of cars in the area. The reason for this adjustment is calming down the traffic in this part of the campus.

    Rector Libor Grubhoffer will be awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Science

    On a proposal from the College of Science and College of Agriculture & Life Sciences, University of Arizona was prof. Libor Grubhoffer awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Science for his lifelong inspiring research in natural sciences, the improvement of the infrastructure needed for science and research and development of new curricula not only for Czech students.
