Tomáš Machula was elected as a new Rector

On Thursday, March 3, 2016, the Academic Senate of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice, elected the candidate for Rector for the period 2016-2020. Assoc. Prof. Tomáš Machula, currently holding the post of the Dean of the Faculty of Theology at USB, has become the new Rector of the university.

There were three candidates in the fourth election - Assoc. Prof. Tomáš Machula, Ph.D., Th.D., Dean of the Faculty of Theology; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ing. Dagmar Škodova Parmová, Vice Rector for International Relations and Assoc. Prof. PhDr. Lubomír Pána, Ph.D., dr.h.c., Rector of the College of European and Regional Studies.

Before the first round of the election, the candidate Assoc. Prof. Lubomír Pána resigned his candidacy. Thus, the number of candidates for the fourth election lowered to two, the Assoc. Prof. Dagmar Škodová Parmová and the Assoc. Prof. Tomáš Machula.

In the first round, no candidate obtained the required majority of votes (ie. at least 21 votes). The second round was already successful and the Assoc. Prof. Tomáš Machula obtained 21 votes from all senators.

The University of South Bohemia now has a successor to the current rector prof. Libor Grubhoffer, whose term of office ends on 31 March 2016.
