On Wednesday November 9, the Faculty of Philosophy organized a ceremonial session of the Scientific council and a concert of the South Bohemian Philharmonic Orchestra in order to celebrate the anniversary of its foundation. Since 2006 the faculty expanded into 8 departments and currently about 800 students attend this faculty.
Many important guests including 3 emeritus rectors of the University of South Bohemia, a number of significant public figures and representatives of partner universities participated at the ceremonial session of the Scientific council. A famous historian, František Šmahel, who has been cooperating with the faculty since its foundation, was one of the most important speakers.
At the ceremonial event, 3 respected personalities from the field of humanity sciences were awarded commemorative medals:
- prof. PhDr. Alena Macurová, CSc., from Charles University
- prof. Dr. Anton Schindling, from Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen
- prof. PhDr. Jan Kořenský, DrSc., from Palacky University in Olomouc, he could not attent the ceremony due to health indisposition and so the medal was received by prof. PhDr. Alena Jaklová, CSc., from the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of South Bohemia
The 10th anniversary of the foundation of the Faculty of Philosophy was closed by the concert of the Philharmonic orchestra.
