Faculty of Fisheries and Protection of Waters USB became a founding member of ESRN

Faculty of Fisheries and Protection of Waters USB and its center (CENAKVA) became a founding member of the European Sturgeon Research Network (ESRN)

Prof. Dipl. - Ing. Otomar Linhart, DSc., the dean of the faculty signed the Memorandum of Understanding with the president of the World Sturgeon Conservation Society (WSCS) prof. Harald Rosenthal in Berlin. In the Memorandum both parties have agreed on joint research in the conservation and culture of sturgeon by means of the newly established European Sturgeon Research Network (WSCS-ESRN). Among the founding members of the WSCS-ESRN there is the Leibniz-Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries (IGB) in Berlin under the guidance of prof. Clement Tockner, see the photo. In scope of the European network our Faculty is willing to offer sturgeon research from the biology of sperm, cryoconservation, aquaculture breeding, physiology, reproduction, rearing of fry and micromanipulation techniques with embryonic gonadal cells. Our Faculty also offers a collection of 10 breeding species of sturgeon and paddlefish, one of the largest in the world.
