Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway visited the University of South Bohemia

On Thursday 6th June 2019 the University of South Bohemia and the Faculty of Science received an important international visit, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway in the Czech Republic H.E. Robert Kvile with his wife and Terje B. Englund, Communications & EEA Adviser at Royal Norwegian Embassy.

The delegation was received by the Vice-rector for International Relations of USB Assoc. Prof. Radka Závodská, Ph.D. and the dean of the Faculty of Science, Prof. Ing. Hana Šantrůčková, CSc. After the introduction of the University in general and the Faculty of Science, they were discussing the topics such as internationalisation, double degrees with Johannes Kepler University (Linz), the research within international teams and close relation to the Biology Centre CAS.

In connection with Norway, the dean emphasized the activities of the Centre of Polar Ecology that is operating Josef Svoboda research station in Svalbard and aims to promote and facilitate research and education in polar ecological sciences at the Faculty of Science, University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice. The head of CPE, Ass. Prof. Josef Elster, introduced the historical development of the polar station, the current scientific activities and the research aims of this team. They were also talking about the importance of mutual cooperation in research and the branch of ecology.
