Functional (non-)equivalence of English and Czech sentence structures

Wednesday 27 November 2019 02:30 PM

We would like to invite you to an interesting lecture.

Presentation: PhDr. Vladislav Smolka, Ph.D.

The talk explores selected formally identical but functionally different sentence structures available both in English and in Czech; in addition, it looks at structures that are unique to one of the two languages and at the ways in which their meanings are expressed in the other language.

Vladislav Smolka works at the Department of English of the Faculty of Education at the University of South Bohemia.
